Privacy Policy
Last updated May 29, 2026. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, and how to contact us about your information.
What Normal Does
Normal is personal health intelligence that helps you understand patterns in how you feel. You can interact with Normal through the app and through SMS or iMessage. The product may use information you provide, information synced from Apple Health with your permission, and AI systems to generate responses, summaries, patterns, and follow-ups.
Normal is not a medical provider and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have a medical concern, contact a qualified health professional.
Information We Collect
Account and contact information may include your phone number, email address, name, timezone, waitlist status, login status, and support messages.
Messages may include SMS or iMessage text you send to Normal, Normal replies, message metadata, delivery status, message handles, timestamps, and optional photos or media you choose to send.
Health and body information may include Apple Health data that you authorize, such as sleep, steps, distance, workouts, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, body temperature, blood glucose, VO2 max, active energy, basal energy, exercise minutes, stand hours, cycle information, weight, height, sex, birthdate, and other body measurements. Normal may also store information you share directly, including mood, energy, symptoms, nutrition, movement, check-ins, commitments, outcomes, and notes about what made you feel better or worse.
App and device information may include local onboarding and session state, sync timestamps, background sync status, basic usage events, request metadata, error logs, and diagnostic information needed to keep the service reliable.
How We Use Information
We use information to operate Normal, authenticate users, manage waitlist and approved access, sync HealthKit data you authorize, understand your patterns, generate AI-powered responses, send follow-ups, provide support, debug issues, protect the service, and improve product quality.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use Apple Health data for advertising, and we do not sell or share Apple Health data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.
Service Providers
We use service providers to run Normal. These may include Supabase for authentication and database storage, Sendblue for iMessage and SMS delivery, Anthropic and OpenAI for AI processing, Sanity for website content, Render for backend hosting, and Apple HealthKit when you choose to connect health data. Supabase phone login may rely on SMS infrastructure such as Twilio.
These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us, subject to their own security and privacy commitments.
AI Processing
Normal may send your messages, recent conversation context, and relevant health or pattern information to AI providers so the product can understand your request and generate a useful response. If you send a meal or drink photo, Normal may process that image with an AI vision model to estimate food, drink, and nutrition details.
Your Choices
You control Apple Health permissions through iOS settings and can disconnect or limit access at any time. Some features may not work without the data they depend on.
You can contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or export of your information. Email team@trynormal.ai. For a direct founder contact, email ely@trynormal.ai.
Retention and Security
We keep information for as long as needed to provide Normal, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and improve reliability. We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, but no system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
Children
Normal is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Changes
We may update this policy as Normal changes. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice.
